AP English Literature and Composition
is a college-level course that engages students in close reading and critical analysis. The class also offers students practice in writing essays and answering multiple choice questions similar to those they will face on the Advanced Placement exam.  The close reading skills developed in this class are a continuation of those introduced and refined in the Pre AP classes-especially the British Literature Pre AP 5-6. Writing is an integral part of the course. Most assignments focus on critical analysis. Expository, argumentation and evaluation essays are also written. Writing instruction refines skills in organization, coherency, persuasion, and voice resulting in enhanced stylistic maturity. Some of the writing involves research and the development of an extended argument. MLA documentation skills are reviewed and MLA formatting is required for all submissions. This course’s curriculum has been approved by ETS College Board and meets all standards set forth. Please refer to the link below from the College Board for detailed curriculum information. -http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_englit.html?englit

AP Biology
AP Biology is a college-level course which conforms to the standards instituted by the College Board for all AP courses and covers all the topics in the AP Biology Course Description.  These include biochemistry, cell structure and function, metabolism, genetics, molecular basis of inheritance, DNA technology, evolution, microbiology, classification, plants, animals, animal physiology, and ecology.  All of the aforementioned topics are integrated throughout the course using the eight major themes from the AP Biology curriculum requirements.  Please refer to the College Board website link below for more detailed information regarding curriculum covered. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_bio.html?biology

AP Chemistry
This course is designed for qualified students who have a strong interest in science.  A strong emphasis is put on the fact that AP Chemistry is a college-level course designed to take the place of two semesters of freshmen inorganic chemistry, and therefore the pace can be extremely fast.  The class is designed as a second-year chemistry course.  We will be covering many topics including kinetics, electrochemistry, thermochemistry, acid-base chemistry, redox reactions, and various types of equilibria.  Knowledge, which the students acquired during first-year high school chemistry, will need to be accessed easily.  We will review those topics, but we need to move to more detailed explanations as quickly as possible.  All topics will be reinforced by homework, lab work, and individual/group projects.  At times, self-guided learning from the textbook, Internet resources, and homework problems will be required. For more information, please visit the College Board website at the following address: http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/courses/teachers_corner/2119.html

AP Physics:  Physics Advanced Placement 1 & 2
This rigorous course includes topics in both classical and modern physics. The basic ideas of calculus may be introduced in connection with physical concepts, such as acceleration and work. Understanding and application of these principles in the solution of problems are the major goals of the course. The course will include mechanics – 33%, kinetic theory and thermodynamics – l0%, electricity and magnetism – 25%, waves and optics – 15%, and modern physics 17%.  May be used as one of the three required science credits and meets university requirements
of one of the three lab sciences.  Prerequisites: concurrent enrollment in Pre-Calculus and teacher approval. Please refer to the link below from the College Board for curriculum covered. – http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_physb.html?physicsb
