Dress and Appearance

All students should be dressed in clothing appropriate for school. All clothing should be neat and clean. Any dress that is distracting, immodest, proclaims gang affiliation, designs that promote tobacco, drugs, alcohol, satanic symbols, racial slogans, or obscene material are prohibited at school. At the discretion of the principal, any student dressed inappropriately will be given a written warning and will be required to change clothing.

Flip flop type sandals
Frayed clothing or with holes or slits
Mini skirts
Short Shorts
Halter tops
Tube tops
Low cut tops (front or back)
See through tops
Bare midriff style tops
Underwear worn as outerwear

All shorts and skirts must not be shorter than the length of one’s fingertips, when held next to his/her body. Loose pants or shorts must be secured to the waist with a belt, using the belt loops. Shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, and jerseys may be worn outside the pants, providing that the item of clothing does not hang longer than the student’s wrist, when held next to this/her body. Any clothing hanging past the wrist must be tucked in.

Oversize and excessively loose or excessively tight clothing is not permitted.

Hats are not to be worn in the buildings. They should be removed as soon as the student enters the building.

Hair color should be natural color (blonde, brunette, or natural red). No primary or secondary colors. We ask that styles are not distracting.

Make-up and excessive jewelry are not allowed.

Boys may not wear earrings.

Students are expected to be well groomed, neat, and clean at all times.

Dress Code Violations

1st Violation – The teacher will advise the student of the violation and instruct him/her to follow the dress code.

2nd Violation – The student is referred to the principal and receives a written referral that must be signed by the parents and returned.

3rd Violation – The student is retained in the office, the parents are called and must pick up their child from school. The child may return to school when properly dressed.
